Music
- There are frequent concerts in Aberdyfi, Tywyn and Machynlleth. We usually have details available in our events calendar.
- There is a week-long festival in Machynlleth every August of different types of traditional and contemporary music – see our Festivals page.
Cinema
The independent Magic Lantern Cinema in nearby Tywyn is definitely one for film fans! A fully-restored cinema from the past, it’s cinema as it used to be, with stalls and balcony, plus a licenced bar and café in the foyer. The programming shows an independent streak, too, with a mix of blockbusters, arthouse, foreign language and live streaming events.

History
- There are many well-preserved historic sites to visit nearby. Harlech Castle was a fortress of the English invasion, while the enigmatic Criccieth Castle with its lovely views was a native Welsh stronghold. There are also less well-known sites, such as the atmospheric Castle Bere near Tywyn.
- Aberystwyth has a museum attached to the University, but perhaps more alluring is Ceredigion Museum – this is located in an old Edwardian theatre, complete with sloping stage and auditorium. It has a wealth of interesting objects, reflecting the lives of everyday people from times gone by.
