Here are some of the upcoming events in Aberdovey and the surrounding area that are sure to get you excited for your visit!

 

Tal y Llyn Swim – The Big 10K & The Giant 10Miles – Saturday 8th September

Tal Y Lyn is a stunning glacial ribbon lake that lies at the foot of one of Wales’ most iconic mountains, Cadair Idris, in the heart of Snowdonia National Park. For this event there is the option of either a 10k or a 10 mile swim.

 

The Cambrian Coast Sportive – Saturday 14th September

The Cambrian Coast Sportive takes in some of the UK’s most spectacular countryside. Starting from Aberdovey and set entirely within the Snowdonia National Park, the routes follow the coast and beaches, climb the mountains, skirt around lakes and descend through forests, making this arguably the most scenic sportive ride in the country.

 

Tafol Tumble 8K – Aberdovey Swim – Sunday 29th September

Starting from Aberdovey beach swim all the way to a pebbly beach where the River Tafol joins the River Dovey. Here you will “tumble-turn” and swim back to Aberdovey, hopefully your tumble coincides with the turning of the tide!

 

Ain’t Afraid of No Ghost – Saturday 19th October

For the avid theatre fans amongst you, this should be right up your street. A funny, nostalgic trip back to the 80’s and a home haunted by a playful poltergeist. A captivating mystery set in a recognisable suburban world. Head to the theatre for a nostalgic trip back to the 80s and a comic exploration of a childhood haunting where nothing is quite what it seems – all wrapped up in some formidable fashions, stuffed with sweet treats and set to a cheese-tastic chart-topping soundtrack.

 

Bonfire Night – Saturday 2nd November

The traditional Aberdovey Bonfire and Fireworks display. Wrap up in your warm clothes, rock that bobble hat and watch the night sky by lit up with daring fireworks. 

 

Mrs Peachum’s Guide to Love & Marriage – Saturday 16th November

Following A Spanish Hour’s sellout tour, Mid Wales Opera’s SmallStages team romps back onto stage with a radical reworking of John Gay’s 1728 ballad opera The Beggar’s Opera. Join Mrs Peachum, her daughter Polly and The Beggar in their bawdy, ballsy take on relationships and the relative virtues of virginity.

 

The Winter Run to the Castle 2019 – Saturday 7th December

Run to the Castle will take runners and walkers from the coastal village of Aberdyfi up the beautiful coastal path, taking in the seafront at Tywyn, the village of Fairbourne, the famous Fairborne bridge, Barmouth, to the castle town of Harlech which is approx 40/42 miles away.
