Aberdovey Hillside Village – Access Statement
At Aberdovey Hillside Village we are dedicated to the care and support of all our guests, and have made every effort to make Aberdovey Hillside Village as accessible as possible, including those with disabilities. Much information is provided within this statement and through our website, but if you have any further enquiries, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Aberdovey Hillside Village is at the historic heart of the seaside village of Aberdovey. Its ideal position in Aberdovey enables guests to be at the water’s edge in 150m and in 300m enjoying its speciality shops, galleries, pubs and restaurants. Our guests can walk into the wildness of Snowdonia National Park, using the Wales Coast Path which we are on.

How to get to us
Most of our guests travel by car, although Aberdovey is very accessible by public transport. By car we are just over 2 hours from Chester or Telford, on roads that tend not to get congested with traffic in the holiday periods. If coming from the south, the Severn Bridge is around 3 hours away on a very scenic route through the heart of Wales.
Aberdovey has two railway stations on the Cambrian Coast Line, one only about 300m from Aberdovey Hillside Village. We would encourage guests to travel by rail – it would be worth it, if only to enjoy the ten miles from Machynlleth, part of one of the most scenic railway journeys in Britain. Aberdovey is on a direct rail link from Birmingham International. London Euston is about 4½ hours travel time.

On Arrival in Aberdovey
BY CAR – Aberdovey Hillside Village as can be seen from the Directions Plan, is at the top end of Church Street, a very attractive approach from Chapel Square (where FATFACE has a frontage). Church Street is about 300 yards long, it is narrow and steeply sloping in parts and has a couple of tight bends where it may be necessary to give way to a car coming down the hill, though arriving guests are more likely to come across a fellow guests on foot and probably in the middle of the road, so please drive carefully! Aberdovey has a very slow, relaxed seaside feel, as does Aberdovey Hillside Village; soon after arrival you will have adapted!
Parking is often an issue when staying at seaside locations such as Aberdovey, however those staying at Aberdovey Hillside Village, and coming by car should have no such concern as there is ample car parking available within the grounds. Guest Parking is located as conveniently and discreetly as possible to minimise visual intrusion. We also have a five mph speed limit; guests respect and value this.
BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT – Guests can disembark at either of Aberdovey’s two railway stations. The nearest to Aberdovey Hillside Village is Penhelig Halt, this is a request stop, and probably your best choice if you don’t have much luggage and you plan to walk. There are alternative walking routes from Penhelig, the most direct and scenic is about 300m. Aberdovey’s main station is about half mile away. When staff and transport are available, a pick up from either station may be able to be arranged. There are two bus stops nearby, one at Penhelig and the other adjacent to St Philips church on Sea View Terrace (the sea front) with services to Tywyn and Machynlleth. Timetables and taxi numbers are available in Reception.
On Arrival at Aberdovey Hillside Village Guests are required to check in at the Village Reception, marked “R” on the Directions Plan. The Reception Courtyard is marked RC on the AHV Map. Guests while checking in can temporarily park immediately on the right as you come through the entrance gates. Once checked in guests are shown to their property. Checking in is between 4-6pm on day of arrival. Late arrivals are directed to telephone the number displayed at reception and one of the AHV team will come as soon as is possible and check guests in and show the guests to their property. Telephoning ahead and advising of estimated arrival time will help to ensure that one of the AHV team is available to receive you. Early arrivals may be able to be checked in, if the property has been prepared and one of the AHV team is available. There is a Reception lounge and outside seating within the Reception Courtyard for guests to use on arrival.

Guests with Restricted Mobility or Disability
Aberdovey Hillside Village welcomes guests with restricted mobility or disability. We aim to ensure that our services are as accessible as reasonably possible, so it is important that we are made fully aware of any requirements prior to booking being concluded. Seal, Otter, Porpoise, Walrus and Southward have the best access for people with limited mobility. Please look at website ( each properties details identifies the access arrangements) or telephone us to discuss which property will best suit your needs.

Village Facilities and Grounds
The Reception Courtyard and adjacent indoor facilities – in addition to the tables and chairs in the Reception Courtyard on its western side, the Reception Lounge is open 24 hours a day. The associated Village Reception Office will generally be open between 9.30am to 5.30pm week days and 9.30am to 12.30pm on Saturdays. There are toilet facilities off the Reception Lounge. Across the Reception Courtyard on its eastern side is an indoor activity area which includes table football, Air hockey, an interactive zone; Table tennis table.
The Terrace, situated at the heart of the Village, has tables and chairs and is a great place to sit and relax, read and take in the views. The Wi-Fi Lounge and Library and the guest laundry are situated off the Terrace and a Pool Table room.
The Children’s outside play area has a bark surface and associated picnic tables – great for enjoying the estuary views whilst keeping an eye on the little ones.
